Open Sculpture Class 2014 Schedule

Extended sessions with the same model for sculpting seated and reclining figures, bas-relief, portraiture, and working in the abstract.

Three week long poses will give you time to develop your personal vision, exploring the conceptual and practical aspects of modeling the figure in clay.

    Tuesdays 1:30-4:30 pm

      1:30-2 pm Presentation
      2-4 pm Working from the model
      4-4:30 pm Discussion, and cleanup
    Wednesdays 6:30-9:30 PM

      6:30-7 PM Presentation
      7-9 PM Working from the model
      9-9:30 PM Discussion, and cleanup

$240, fee includes 50 pounds of clay and the model fees.

    Wednesday class starts on Jan 29th, Tuesday class on Jan 28th.

    6 Vernon Street Somerville, third floor
    Parking is available in the parking lot behind the building.
    Entrance is on Central Street.

December 7 & 8 Open Studio Event

My Fall Open Studio is on December 7 & 8 from 12-6pm. Many artists at 6 and 20 Vernon Street will be participating in this event. My studio is on 6 Vernon street, third floor. There will be free parking in the lot behind the building. I will be featuring my latest creations in sculpture and jewelry. Hope to see you there.

On May 24th I will be graduating with a Master’s degree in Digital Imaging and Instructional Design from Harvard Extension School.

Looking for innovative art, I went to New York City this past weekend. Google and The Project Room for New Media at Chelsea Art Museum (CAM) in New York have launched an exhibition program, “Digital Art @Google NYC”. It is exciting to see promotion of creativity with digital technology. I was not able to see the exhibit “Data Poetics”, which just had its opening reception on June 11th. You need to RSVP to see it.

This is my annual spring open studio event. I will be exhibiting sculpture, monotype, and jewelry. I am hoping to be able to finish some new work by then. I feel very inspired having just returned from the sculpture conference.

By public transportation, take either bus 88 or 90 and get off at Central Street in Somerville. Bus 90 connects the Red and Orange lines; Bus 88 connect the Lechmere Green Line station to Clarendon Hill. Vernon Street is a short walk from Highland Avenue, where you would get off the bus at the Central Street stop. 6 Vernon Street is the first door on the left. My studio is on the third floor.

I just returned from the 22nd International Sculpture Conference – What is Sculpture in the 21st Century held in London, UK. I had a great time meeting sculptors from all over the world. The National Gallery hosted the opening Keynote address by Antony Gormley on April 7th. Here is a Henry Moore sculpture next to the River Thames near Tate Britain.
