This year my spring open studio is on May 4-5, noon-6 pm. I will be featuring my newest sculptures, jewelry, and more. Plan to visit, 6 Vernon Street, third floor, Somerville.
Bas-Relief Sculpture Class
Working from your pictures or imagination, we will create works that are inspired from your mindscape. Our goal will be playful interpretations of reality or imagined narratives, visualized in bas-relief. Bring your images, stories, and ideas to this class.
When: Tuesdays,
6pm – 9pm

Sculpture Demonstration
I will demonstrate making a relief sculpture on December 5th. Please visit Melrose Arts art demos for details.
Bas-relief Demonstration Description:
This art form has been used since ancient times to portray images on walls and ceilings of caves, and as pictorial carvings on the side of mountains, as on Mount Rushmore. Relief sculptures are commonly seen on the surfaces of stone buildings such as the friezes on the Parthenon. It is often used to commemorate historic narratives, and on a personal scale as plaques, or on seals, coins, and jewelry.
In this workshop this process will be demonstrated through reductive and additive processes to create a portrait relief sculpture.

Sculpting at Vernon Street Studios
The sculpture class/group at 6 Vernon Street is happening every Wednesday evening, 6:30-9 pm, studio #35. We have a great model booked for several weeks.
The fee is $35 per evening paid in full at beginning of each session. You can bring your own clay, or buy it from me ($16 per 25 lb bag).
In addition to sculpting help, I provide cookies and music.

The spring is here and I would like to invite you to my 2016 open studio at 6 Vernon Street, third floor, studio #35. This is an annual event, the first of such events anywhere in New England. Come check out my new work— encaustic painting, monotype, sculpture, ceramic, and jewelry.
There will be over 100 other participating artists in my studio building alone. Somerville Open Studios this year will be on April 30 and May 1, noon–6 PM. My studio is on the third floor at 6 Vernon Street in Somerville. Parking is available in the lot behind the building.

Whether experienced, or novice, join us for sculpting in a supportive environment. The extended sessions with the same model will cover sculpting seated and reclining poses, as well as bas-relief, portraiture, and working in the abstract. No experience is required, just come for learning, exploring, and creating new artwork.
Three-week long poses will give you time to develop your personal vision, exploring the conceptual and practical aspects of modeling the figure in clay.
Fee: $100 per three-week session, or $35 per class.
You can purchase clay at the studio, $30 for 50 pounds, or bring your own.
